At Autumn Statement 2016, taking take effect from 6th April 2017, the chancellor confirmed that, in the public sector only, theIR35 status will be determined by the client, not by the contractor.

If your client decides that IR35 does apply, then you will be taxed at source, through the Real Time Information (RTI) system, exactly as if it were an employee.

  • calculate the deemed employment payment and pay any tax and National Insurance contributions due, at the end of the tax year
